INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Daniil Romashkin led the University of Evansville men's golf team in Monday's opening day of the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational at Highland Country Club.

Romashkin sits in a tie for 24
th with a 2-over 142. After opening with an even 70, Romashkin carded a 72 in the second 18. One behind him was the duo of Jamison Ousley and Omar Khalid. Both recorded the exact same score in each round both opening with a 3-over 70 before shooting an even 70 in the second 18.

Chris O'Donnell is fourth on the squad with a 149 while Mason Taylor was fifth in day one. O'Donnell posted scores of 74 and 75 and is tied for 65
th with a 149. Taylor is tied for 83
rd with a 154. He carded a 79 in the first round before lowering his score to a 75 in the second 18.

Julian Kiessling competed as an individual and is in 29
th with a 143. He finished the day with rounds of 72 and 71.

Butler holds the team lead with a 543 while SIU Edwardsville is in second with a 552. Evansville is in 7
th place with a 577, eight strokes outside the top five. Leo Zurovac of Butler is the individual leader with a 2-round score of 131. The teams will complete the tournament on Tuesday.
