EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville cross country squads opened the 2026 season on Friday evening at the Stegemoller Screagle Invite at the USI Cross Country Course.

Things got started with a 4K women's race with the Purple Aces taking third place in the team standings. USI took top honors with Western Kentucky taking second. Ellie Hall of the Screaming Eagles was the individual winner with a time of 13:54.1.
 
Leading the way for UE was Avery Stephens who earned a top ten finish. Her time of 14:23.0 saw her finish in 7^th place. Kyleigh Wolf picked up a top 20 finish as her 14:48.2 was good for 18^th.

On the men's side, the Screaming Eagles earned the team victory with Western Kentucky, Bellarmine, and UE rounding out the top four. Jackson Nolan of USI was the winner with a time of 18:25.0 as his squad swept the top three positions.
 
Evansville was led by Nathan Whitehead who came home in 28^th with a time of 19:25.9. Woody Burrell was second on the team with a finish of 19:54.8.
