Matt is 74 points away from becoming the 39th player in Purple Aces’ history to score 1,000 career points. 2005-06 – Honorable Mention All-MVC...UE’s top scorer and rebounder...ranked #5 in MVC in scoring (14.2), #9 in rebounding (6.4)...strong inside player who led the MVC by far in free throws made (154) and attempted (204)...the 154 free throws were the eighth most in school history...scored a career-high 29 in Dec. 10 win over Western Illinois...scored 26 in Feb. 21 win over MVC Tournament champ Southern Illinois, 24 in season opener against Marshall...posted his second, third and fourth career double-doubles, with 24/10 vs. Marshall, 18/10 at Drake Feb. 11, and 15/12 vs. Tenn.-Martin Feb. 18...double figure-scorer in 21 games...made at least six free throws 14 times...joined UE teammate Bradley Strickland on a college all-star team that competed in Austria and Slovenia in August, 2005. 2004-05 – UE co-leader in rebounding (5.4), third in scoring (10.9)...led the team in free throws (88) and free throw attempts (134)...one of the team’s most versatile players because of his ability to play inside and shoot from the outside...his 25 3-point field goals were fourth most on the team...scored 20 points Feb. 19 against Loyola for his third 20-point-plus game since Jan. 15; hit 3 of 4 three-pointers that night...totaled 19 points, eight rebounds in MVC Tournament against Drake...scored a career-high 24 Jan. 15 at Bradley, and 20 Jan. 22 against Indiana State...recipient of the coaching staff’s pre-season Outstanding Defensive Player Award. 2003-04 – Led all Evansville newcomers in scoring at 7.7 points per game, good for fourth best on the squad...his 84 free throws were 24 more than his next closest teammate, and 117 FT attempts were 36 more than the next closest player...primarily an inside player, but also showed the ability to step outside and shoot three-pointers (13-33, .394)...led UE to its first MVC Tournament win since 1999 by scoring a team-high 17 points and hauling down a team-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double in a 63-59 first-round win over Indiana State...also scored 17 points January 3 at Northern Iowa...scored in double figures 10 times.
