At UE – Alex Acheson is expected to once again hold down a starting spot in the UE outfield this spring...An athletic outfielder with above average defensive skills...A smart hitter who routinely came through in the clutch for the Purple Aces in 2009.

2009 – Started UE’s first 39 games in the outfield, before a stress reaction in his leg ended his season on April 22...One of six Purple Aces to finish the year hitting above .300 with a .301 average...Launched three home runs, five doubles, and a triple...Led UE’s regulars with a .401 on-base percentage, as he finished third in the MVC with 15 HBPs...Hit safely in 15 of his final 18 games, while hitting .361 with two home runs and 15 of his 21 RBI from March 29-on...Went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI vs. Murray State (4/7)...Went 3-for-4 with a season-best 3 RBI vs. Northern Iowa (3/29)...Had two of his three home runs, while hitting .455 (5-for-11) in UE’s series vs. Creighton (4/3-4/5)...Hit .394 with runners on base (26-for-66) and a team-best .462 with two outs (18-for-39), while recording 14 two-out RBI...Had nine multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI contests.

2008 – Played in 48 games, with 34 starts in the outfield...Hit .256 with a home run, four doubles, and 15 RBI...UE’s best hitter on the road with a .323 average...Had eight multi-hit games...Drove in a career-best four RBI vs. Brescia...Hit his first career home run vs. Wright State (3/9)...An honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete team selection.

2007 – Played in 17 games with one start in the UE outfield...Primarily used as a late-inning defensive replacement...Hit .333 with four hits in 12 at-bats...Also scored two runs and drove in four RBI...Collected his first career hit and run scored at Murray State (3/6)...

Background – A second-team all-state pick at Champaign Central...Participated in the 2006 Illinois Coaches Association All-Star Game...Hit .509 as a senior with seven home runs, 42 RBI and 59 runs scored to help Central to its best record ever (30-7)... A two-time Champaign News Gazette Area Player of the Year...Holds school career records for batting average (.481) and home runs (13)...Majoring in accounting...Chose UE because “it has a great baseball program and can provide me with a great education.”
