Biography
At UE – Jim Viscomi returns healthy this year to once again anchor the UE outfield...Missed all but one game last season, after fracturing his knee cap while sliding into a brick wall at Winthrop last February...Expected to be back at the top of the order this year...Will patrol center field...On pace to rank in UE’s career top five for stolen bases before his career his up.
2008 – Earned a medical redshirt after sliding into the left-field wall at Winthrop while chasing a foul ball on 2/23...Went 0-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch in his only action of the year...A preseason all-MVC selection.
2007 – A first team all-MVC outfielder...Ranked third in the MVC in hitting at .374...Led the league with 59 runs scored...Also third in the MVC with 22 stolen bases...Posted a .450 on-base percentage as UE’s lead-off man...Had a career-best 20-game hitting streak (3/14 - 4/15) in which he hit .500 (40-for-80)... 25 multi-hit games...Went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored against College World Series participant Louisville (3/14)...Recorded 10 three-hit games...Swiped a career-high three bases at Ball State (3/16)...A Northwoods League All-Star while playing with the La Crosse Loggers.
2006 – Hit .279 in 59 games, including 56 starts...Third in the MVC with 34 stolen bases, the second-highest total in UE history...An NCAA All-Regional pick after hitting .381 (8-for-21) with two doubles, a triple, six RBI and seven runs scored...Hit .310 (13-for-42) with 11 runs scored and nine RBI in UE’s 10 postseason games...Had a pair of three-hit games in the NCAA Tournament vs. Lehigh (3-for-5, 3 RBI) and #7 Virginia (3-for-4, 4 runs)...A member of the preseason Wallace Award Watch List.
At Parkland – A third-team NJCAA Division II All-American...Helped Parkland to a second-place finish at the 2005 NJCAA Finals...NJCAA All-Tournament selection after hitting a team-best .458 (11-for-24) with a tournament-record nine stolen bases...Led the JUCO ranks and posted the second-highest stolen base total in college baseball with 74 thefts...Hit .386 with 11 home runs, 58 RBI, and 92 runs.
Background – A two-time all-region and all-state pick at Glenbard East...A career .450 hitter for the Rams...Swiped 81 bases in his last two years for varsity play, including 55 as a senior...Majoring in sport studies/management...Chose UE because “it is the place I felt most comfortable at.”
