Biography
2007: Competed in seven of UE’s eight meets as a junior, including the State Farm MVC Championships...turned in personal-best times in both the 4K (17:46.77-Mid-America Opener) and 5K events (20:03.83-UE Invitational)...consistently finished in UE’s top seven...placed 12th overall at the Tennessee Tech Invite to help UE to the team title...earned the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and a place on UE’s Student-Athlete Honor Roll for her work in the classroom, including posting a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester.
2006: Ran in six of UE’s eight meets...lowered her best times in both the 4K (18:04.84) and 6K (26:40.47)...developed into UE’s number six runner...posted a season-best 5K time of 20:36.01 at the UE Invite...cut over a minute off of her previous-best 6K time at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional (26:40.47).
2005: Competed in all eight meets...consistently ran in UE’s top seven...best individual finish was 35th at the UE Early Bird Invite (18:07--4K)...posted a season-best 5K time of 20:28 at the State Farm MVC Championships.
Background: Lettered four years in track and cross country at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School...three-time recipient of the “Coach’s Award”...also won the team’s “110 Percent” award as a junior...an all-area performer in 2004...helped the Bulldogs to a fourth place finish in Kentucky as a senior...also helped Dunbar to a regional championship in track as a sophomore...twin sister of Katie Bowlds...majoring in global business and Spanish.
Why UE?: The study abroad program was a big draw for me. Also, I just liked the vibe I got from being at UE.
