2008 – Left side defender who completed her second year as a starter after moving from forward early in her career...helped lead the defense to six shutouts...good in the air...aggressive defender and good tackler who is also good at starting the attack...made three assists, in victories against Wright State, Austin Peay and Illinois State.

2007 – Moved from forward to outside back prior to the 2007 season, and quickly earned a place in the starting lineup during pre-season practice...combined good speed with size and technical skills...helped UE shut out seven opponents, the most since 2000...assisted on Kayla Lambert’s goal in UE’s 3-0 win over UAB on Sept. 28.

2006 – Versatile player who was one of the first forwards off the bench as a freshman...scored a goal in her first collegiate match, against Austin Peay...also scored goals against Troy and Eastern Kentucky...tied for fifth on the team in scoring with seven points...good skills with the ball, and good in the air.

High School/Club – Second team all-state once and third team all-state twice at Castle, where she totaled 61 goals and 23 assists...four-time all-district...helped lead Knights to two sectional titles...also played on Castle’s state championship basketball team as a senior.

Personal – Katelyn Eve Smith...born December 7, 1987 in Evansville...daughter of Michael and Teresa Smith...has two older brothers...majoring in business.

Why UE? - "I like the soccer program.  It is a good school with good history."
