At UE – Tom Freeman will contend for time at first base and designated hitter this season...A fundamentally sound player with a very good, balanced swing at the plate...Looked to to provide leadership to the younger players this year...Valuable bat off of the bench from the right side.

2008 – Saw action in 22 games with eight starts at first base (1 GS) and DH(7 GS)...Hit .195 with two doubles, a home run, and eight RBI in 41 at-bats...Responded with a 3-for-5 effort and two RBI in his first career start at Radford (3/2)...Launched his first career home run at Tennessee-Martin (4/8)...Also had a two-run double at the Citadel (3/8)...Came through with pinch-hit RBI in three-straight games from 4/22 to 4/29...Had a career-best four-game hitting streak from 3/8 to 3/12 in which he hit .400 (4-for-10) with a double and two RBI...Four of his eight RBI came with two outs...Helped the Owensboro Oilers to the K.I.T. League title this past summer.

2007 – Moved from catcher to the outfield in his second year at UE...Appeared in six games as a pinch-hitter and reserve outfielder...Recorded five at-bats against Lipscomb, #13 Mississippi, Murray State, Bowling Green, and Le Moyne with a hit-by-pitch...Scored his first career run in the Purple Aces’ 19-1 victory at Murray State (3/6).

2006 – Did not appear in a game...Served as UE’s bullpen catcher during the stretch run of conference play.

Background – Played baseball at nearby Evansville Memorial High School...Hit .390 with 14 doubles as a senior for the Tigers, and helped Memorial to a runner-up finish in Indiana’s Class 3A...Won the team’s Kiwanis Award for baseball...High school teammate of fellow senior Mark Obenchain...Majoring in athletic training at UE...Chose Evansville because of the athletic training program.
