Biography
2010 – One of the first players off the bench...played in 17 of the 19 matches...scored a goal against Northern Iowa in a 4-1 win, and made two assists against Illinois State...took a total of four shots, with two on goal...versatile player who played an outside midfield position primarily.
2009 – Primarily served as a reserve defender and defensive midfielder in her junior year...started against Purdue and Morehead State...one of the most experienced players on the squad, having appeared in 40 collegiate matches going into 2010...good at bringing the ball forward to start the attack.
2008 – Played in six matches as a sophomore...made the corner kick that resulted in an assist on Kayla Lambert's goal in a 1-1 tie at Southeast Missouri Sept. 22...took two shots against Austin Peay and one against Indiana State...strong, athletic player who is good at winning 50/50 balls.
2007 – Chosen for the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team...defender and defensive midfielder who was one of the first players off the bench...saw action in 17 of the Aces’ 18 matches...scored the lone goal in UE’s 1-0 win over DePaul Sept. 14...assisted on Kayla Lambert’s first goal in a 3-0 victory over UAB Sept. 28.
High School/Club – Helped lead Windy City Pride to championship of the Orange Classic in Florida, and to state cup finals...key player on Lyons Township squad that won three sectional championships and one supersectional.
Personal – Sara Jane Ornelas...born Sept. 4, 1988...daughter of Pedro and Mary Arteaga-Ornelas...has one older brother and one older sister...civil engineering major.
