Biography

At UE - Kirk Bacsu will move back behind home plate as UE’s starting catcher this spring...Possesses a quick release and a strong arm behind home plate...Also provides UE with good power from the right-side of the plate offensively. 2006 - Hit .281 with 12 doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 32 RBI in 62 games, including 60 starts at both catcher and third base...Earned second team all-MVC honors as a utility player last season after hitting .319 in MVC play...Also named to the MVC’s All-Tournament Team...Had a key three-run home run in UE’s 8-4 victory over Missouri State in the MVC Tournament (5/27)...Also launched home runs against Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2/24) and Southern Illinois (5/14)...Knocked in a season-high four RBI at Southern Illinois (5/14)...Named the MVC Player of the Week (5/15) after helping UE to a three-game sweep at SIU by hitting .400 (6-for-15) and helping account for 11 of UE’s 24 runs in the series...Went a season-best 4-for-6 in UE’s 17-5 win over Maryland...Set a UE single-season record and led the MVC in hit-by-pitches with 22...Threw out 44 percent of would-be base stealers in 35 games behind home plate...Played summer league baseball for the LaCrosse Loggers of the Northwoods League.
