Training Philosophy
The goal of this strength and conditioning program is to optimize the preparedness level of each student-athlete. Training to be stronger and more powerful, better conditioned, and structurally balanced while enabling each student-athlete to build mental toughness, team leadership and cohesion, and accountability away from the court are all keys to a successful strength and conditioning program.
To accurately train athletes, an understanding of the physical preparedness level of each athlete’s ability must be established. Once preparedness levels of each athlete are established, proper intensities and volumes can be prescribed specifically to the sport of the athlete.
Explosiveness, speed, and conditioning components relative to the sport of the athlete are addressed year round. These elements are all related, yet independent, systems of the body and utilize specific modes of training as well as require different durations of recovery. Training these systems appropriately, while concurrently improving the athlete’s necessary muscular aspects, allows for an increase in their total preparedness level.
A human body is a human body and any structural imbalances or weakness must be corrected regardless of the sport involved. This is for the purpose of injury prevention and improved overall muscular balance.
A successful strength and conditioning program works hand in hand with the sport coach to ensure all essential mental and physical components are met and each athlete is consistently improving his or her abilities.
