2023
  • Voted First-Team All-MVC at first base in his second healthy season at UE
  • Named to the MVC’s All-Defensive Team after committing only two errors in 526 chances all year (.996 fielding percentage)
  • Selected to the MVC’s All-Tournament Team after hitting one of the most dramatic home runs in UE and MVC Tournament history, with a two-strike, two-out walk-off grand slam to beat #9 Indiana State in the first of two MVC Tournament finals (5/27/23 – Game 1)
  • Battled a wrist injury towards the end of the year to still hit a team-best .311 with 15 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, 55 RBI and 51 runs scored while starting all 61 games for UE
  • Did not go more than two games without a hit after the opening weekend of the season
  • Ranked in the MVC’s Top 15 in 11 different offensive categories, including batting average (15th-.311), slugging percentage (seventh-.576), on-base percentage (seventh-.437), runs scored (fourth-51), hits (fifth-74), RBI (fifth-55), doubles (seventh-15), triples (fourth-three), home runs (seventh-14), total bases (fourth-137), and walks (first-48)
  • Ranked 45th in NCAA Division I college baseball with 48 walks
  • Led UE with a .437 on-base percentage and reached base in 56 of UE’s 61 games, including in each of the season’s last eight games
  • 48 of his 55 RBI came in UE victories
  • Had 23 multi-hit games, including 16 two-hit games, five three-hit contests and a pair of four-hit games
  • Also had 14 multi-RBI games, including seven games of three RBI or more
  • Went 4-for-4 and finished a triple shy of the cycle with three runs scored and three RBI vs. Bowling Green State (3/5/23 – Game 2)

  • Finished the year reaching base in the season’s final six games
  • Had eight multi-hit games, including five two-hit games and three three-hit efforts
  • Ranked third on the team with 14 multi-RBI games (nine two-RBI games, four three-RBI games, one four-RBI contest)
  • Went 3-for-4 with a home run and a season-best four RBI against Missouri State in the MVC Tournament (5/28/22)

  • Ranked sixth in NJCAA Division I baseball with a .516 batting average
  • Also ranked 16th in on-base percentage (.595) and eighth in slugging percentage (.968)
  • Played in 12 games in the shortened season
  • Hit .516 in 31 at-bats with nine extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs
  • Tallied 20 RBI and scored 10 runs, while helping the Blue Knights to a 14-1 record
2019 (at Olney Central College – IL)
  • Played in 37 games, hitting .358 for the Blue Knights
  • Had 17 extra-base hits, including five home runs
  • Produced 35 RBI and 30 runs scored
  • Also made five starts on the mound with a 2-1 record
  • Posted a 2.63 ERA and struck out 28 men in 24 innings of work
PREP
  • Standout on the baseball diamond at Pike High School in Indianapolis
  • Hit .484 for the Red Devils as a senior with 12 home runs and 46 RBI
  • Named to Prep Baseball Report’s First Team All-State
  • Also a member of the 2018 Indianapolis Star Super Team

PERSONAL
  • Son of Anne and Jeff Hug
  • Has two older siblings – Logan and Stephanie
  • Logan played baseball at Division III Manchester University
  • His dad, Jeff, ran track and field at Vincennes University
  • Graduated from UE last May with a degree in University Studies and is currently pursuing a Master's in Leadership
  • Also played football and basketball growing up
  • Lists basketball as his second-best sport
  • Hopes to continue playing baseball in the future
  • Lists steak as his favorite food
