At UE – Corey Davisson returns as a key member of the UE bullpen...A smart baseball player who knows the game well...A durable right-hander who will likely crack UE’s career Top 10 in appearances before the season is up.
2009 – Once again led the UE pitching staff in appearances with 30, which ranks as the second-highest single-season total in school history...Did not go more than four games without making an appearance on the mound for UE...Went 1-1 with a save and a 5.77 ERA in 34.1 innings of work...A key part of UE’s mid-season success, as he went 1-0 with a save and a 3.86 ERA in 18 appearances from 3/27 to 5/8...Pitched 16 scoreless relief appearances overall...Recorded his first career save with 1.1 scoreless innings of work vs. Austin Peay (4/8)...Earned a win in UE’s 11-9 victory over Murray State with a perfect inning of work (4/14)...Played both pitcher and catcher for the Pittsfield American Defenders of the New England Collegiate Baseball League...Appeared in the NECBL All-Star Game “pop-time” skills competition as a catcher...Also played in the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame Classic at Cooperstown’s Doubleday Field alongside such Hall of Famers as Brooks Robinson, Paul Molitor, and Bob Feller...Actually replaced Brooks Robinson at third base in the Hall of Fame Classic.
2008 – Led UE with 19 appearances on the mound, including one start in his first full year of pitching since 2006...Went 2-2 with an 8.58 ERA in 28.1 innings of work...Recorded seven scoreless relief appearances, including a string of three-straight scoreless relief appearances from 5/7 to 5/11...Earned first team all-league and Sierra Baseball League All-Star status over the summer for the Clovis (California) Outlaws.
At Bakersfield – Caught 13 games for the Bakersfield College Renegades in 2007...Hit .205 with six RBI in limited at-bats...Did not appear on the mound.
Background – Selected in the 40th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Boston Red Sox...A three-time team MVP at Bakersfield West High School during the 2003, 2005 and 2006 seasons...In 2006, received first-team all-league honors on the mound, as well as an all-area first-team selection...Earned first-team all-league honors as both a pitcher and a catcher during his high school career...Majoring in exercise science...Chose UE because of the “great academics and a successful and top baseball program.”
