Biography

At UE - Kai Tuomi returns for his fourth and final season as a valuable member of the UE pitching staff...A durable leftie who can either start or come out of the bullpen...Will enter his senior year as UE’s active leader in victories with 14. 2006 - Posted a 6-2 record and 3.95 ERA in 20 games, including six starts on the mound...The winning pitcher in the 2006 MVC Championship game, as he struck out a career-high seven, walked one and allowed only one run in 6.2 IP vs. Missouri State (5/27)...Had 36 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 54.2 IP...Went 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in five MVC appearances...Posted seven scoreless relief appearances...Gave up just three extra-base hits in his final 20.0 innings of work. 2005 - Pitched in 16 games, with two starts...Posted a 5-3 record and 5.01 ERA in 46.2 IP...Went 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA in MVC play...Tossed six scoreless relief appearances...Opened the year by tossing 5.1 scoreless innings of relief in a win at Arkansas-Little Rock (2/13)...Also tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in a win over Illinois-Chicago (2/18)...Struck out a season-high five men in back-to-back relief appearances at SEMO (5/4) and Austin Peay (5/10)...Worked 3.0 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win over #30 Creighton (5/15)...Pitched for the Brainerd Blue Thunder of the Northwoods League during the summer. 2004 - Made a team-high 21 appearances with four starts...Went 3-1 with a 4.84 ERA in 57.2 IP...Held opposing batters to a .211 batting average in MVC play...Was 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA in MVC action...Made eight scoreless relief appearances, including tossing 4.1 innings of two-hit relief vs. Ball State (2/29) to earn his first win...Threw a complete-game three-hitter vs. Bradley (5/2)...Tossed 7.0 IP of two-hit relief at Southern Illinois (4/11).
