Biography

At UE - Kasey Wahl will once again patrol first base for UE this spring...One of the top returning hitters in the Midwest...Also one of the top defensive first basemen in the MVC, as he possesses soft hands. 2006 - Received UE’s William V. Slyker Award, given to the school’s top male athlete...A first team all-MVC pick...Led UE and ranked third in the MVC with a .371 average...The 2006 MVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after hitting .591 (13-for-22) with two doubles, two home runs, and four RBI in tournament play...Hit the game-winning home run in UE’s 2-1 victory over Missouri State in the MVC Tournament championship game (5/27)...Second in the MVC in doubles (20), third in hits (91) and RBI (55), and sixth in home runs (seven)...24 multi-hit games...Had a 19-game hitting streak from 4/23 to 5/27 in which he hit .482 (40-for-83) with 10 doubles, four home runs, and 23 RBI...Named MVC Player of the Week (5/1) after hitting .500 (8-for-16) with eight RBI vs. So. Indiana and Illinois State...Went 4-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, and a career-high five RBI in UE’s 15-4 rout of #7 Virginia (6/4)...Set new UE single-season records for hits (91), defensive putouts (618), and chances (661)...Posted a .995 fielding percentage...Earned MVC Scholar-Athlete team honors...Winner of the MVC’s Sportsmanship Award...Hit .271 for the Dubois County Bombers of the Central Illinois Collegiate League over the summer. 2005 - Played in 32 games, with 16 starts...Hit .269 with a home run, and eight RBI...Posted a 1.000 fielding percentage in 88 chances...Had a game-winning home run and four RBI in UE’s 6-4 win over #30 Creighton (5/15)...Hit .375 in MVC Tournament play...Helped Dubois County to the CICL’s championship round. 2004 - Played in 10 games as a reserve...Hit .250 with three RBI...Only UE player to not strike out...Played for the Eugene Pate Legion team over the summer...Had 11 RBI in a legion game. Background - A two-sport star at Evansville Memorial...First-team all-city and all-Metro first baseman...Hit .485 with six home runs and 41 RBI in 2003...Also a second-team all-state tennis player...An athletic training major...Chose UE for its strong academic programs, great athletic facilities, and great coaching staff.
