Biography

At UE - Kern Watts will begin his third and final year in the UE outfield this spring...A key part of the UE offense who displayed emerging power potential at the end of last year...An outstanding contact hitter with great speed at the top of the batting order. 2006 - A second team all-MVC pick...Hit .306 with 10 doubles, two home runs and 41 RBI in 63 games...An NCAA All-Regional and MVC All-Tournament pick after hitting .359 (14-for-39) with a home run, 11 RBI, and nine runs scored in 10 postseason games...Second in the MVC in walks (40) and 10th in runs scored (49)...Second on the team in hits (71) and third in average, on-base percentage (.419), stolen bases (14) and RBI (41)...Keyed UE’s late-season 23-5 run by hitting .371 (39-for-105) with five doubles, two home runs, 23 RBI, and 32 runs scored in the final 28 games...Tied his career high with four hits three times, including going 4-for-4 at Southern Illinois (5/14)...Hit both of his home runs vs. Bradley (5/19 and 5/24). 2005 - Played in 43 games, with 41 starts...Led UE and ranked eighth in the MVC with a .336 average...Seventh in the league in on-base percentage (.446) and stolen bases (18)...Reached base in 40 of his 43 games...Fourth on the team with 34 runs, despite missing a month due to injury...13 multi-hit games, including going 4-for-4 at Austin Peay (5/10)...Had a team-best 12-game hitting streak from 3/5 to 3/25 in which he hit .409 (18-for-44)...Swiped a season-best three bases at UT-Martin (3/9) and Austin Peay (5/10)...Helped the Denton Outlaws to the Texas Collegiate League title over the summer as a TCL all-star. 2004 (At Arkansas) - Played in 25 games with 13 starts on a College World Series team...Went 7-for-47 (.149) with four RBI and 12 runs scored...Had a .365 on-base percentage, with 14 walks.
