Biography

2014:  Drafted in the 20th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Kansas City Royals…All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team selection…Started all 55 games, with a majority coming as a catcher…Hit .310 with 15 doubles, three triples and a team-high five home runs…Led the MVC with 50 RBI and ranked fifth in the conference with 71 hits…Slugged .467 to ranks second on the team and 10th in the league, tallying 107 total bases…Led the team with 21 multi-hit games, including four three-hit performances, and 14 multi-RBI efforts…Posted a season-high four hits on three occasions at Lipscomb (2/16), vs. SIU Edwardsville (4/1) and at Southern Illinois (5/2)…Drove in a season-high five runs at Dallas Baptist (4/19), going 3-for-5 with two runs scored…Tied for second on the team for the longest on-base streak at 16 games and had a season-long eight-game hitting streak…Cut down 13 opposing base stealers in 45 chances for a 28.8 percentage…Hit .281 in conference play with four doubles, a home run and 18 RBI.

2013:  Appeared in all 58 games, making 56 starts…Hit .234 with six doubles, a triple, three home runs and 24 RBI…Finished the season with 30 walks for a .329 on-base percentage…Stole a base in three attempts…Posted 13 multi-hit games and drove in multiple runs three times…Put together a season-long five-game hitting streak and 11-game on-base streak…Became the first UE player to hit two homers in a game and drive in six runs in a game, when he went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and six RBI at SIU Edwardsville (5/15)…Went 3-for-6 with two runs scored against Purdue (3/16)…Went 3-for-5 with an RBI at Western Kentucky (3/27)…Finished the season with a .978 fielding percentage.

2012: Played in all 59 games, starting 58 as the designated hitter…Led the team with five home runs…Hit .275 with nine doubles, 27 RBI, and 30 runs scored…Stole 4-of-4 bases attempted…Ranked second on the squad with a .296 batting average in MVC games…Recorded 15 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games…Led UE with a 4-for-5 performance with two runs scored in the Aces’ 5-3 win over SEC runner-up Vanderbilt (3/20)…Had UE’s longest hitting streak of the season of 13 games from 3/30-4/20…Blasted his first career home run at Austin Peay (3/14)…Went 2-for-5 with a double and home run in UE’s 4-1 win over Wichita State (4/13)…Had two long balls in the series at Dallas Baptist (5/4-5/5)… Drove home the winning run in the 9th in UE’s 1-0 rubber match win over Missouri State (5/13)…Went 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a home run in UE’s 8-5 win over Indiana State (5/23) in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

Background: Received three varsity letters in baseball and two in hockey at Westerville Central High School prior to coming to UE…Was a .505 hitter while slugging .829 as the high school level…Named to the first team OCC as a junior and senior while achieving second team honors as a sophomore…Garnered first team all-state and first team all-district in his final high school season.
