At UE – Matthew Page is expected to make an impact on the UE starting rotation this spring...A three-pitch pitcher who is not afraid to throw any pitch at anytime in the count...Coming off an outstanding fall season in which he struck out 24 men in 19 innings of work, while posting a 1.89 ERA with only four walks.

Background – Earned all-Sunflower Conference and all-Sun Country honors in both baseball and basketball at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School outside of Kansas City...Went 5-2 on the mound with two saves, a 1.67 ERA, and 44 strikeouts in 50.1 innings of work as a senior...Gave up just one earned run in 7.0 innings of work in the Kansas state semifinal game against the eventual state champions in 2005...Led the Cougars to a third-place finish in Kansas in 2005...Comes from a good baseball family, as his father, Darrell, played at New Mexico State from 1978-81 and his uncle, David, played at Arizona from 1980-82 and was drafted in the 10th round by St. Louis...Plans on majoring in electrical engineering at UE...Chose Evansville because “I wanted to play at a Division I school.  Also, when I visited, the academics and atmosphere were a perfect fit for me.”
