AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Made 12 appearances on the mound with four starts…Went 3-1 with a 3.05 ERA…Tossed 44.1 innings, allowed 15 runs, 35 hits, 16 walks, and struck out 23…Earned wins in his first three career starts…Recorded his first career win over USI (Mar. 29), throwing 6.0 scoreless innings, allowed four hits and struck out one…Had his best outing of the season in the State Farm MVC Tournament vs. Illinois State (May 25), hurling a season-high 7.1 innings out of the bullpen, allowed just one hit and two walks. He struck out five, and retired the first 12 batters he faced in order.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year standout on the mound at Carl Sandburg High School outside of Chicago… Earned all-conference and all-area honors for the Eagles, while posting a 7-1 record with two saves and a 1.00 ERA…Owned a seven-to-one strikeout-to-walk ratio as a junior, recording 55 strikeouts to just eight walks in 63.0 innings of work
PERSONAL: His father, Gregory, pitched for Lewis University from 1979-83, while his older brother, Greg, spent seven years in professional baseball (2007-2014 with the Kansas City Royals, 2014 with Los Angeles Angels).
