DID YOU KNOW? Art’s parents made the long journey from Latvia last winter to watch their son play in four games before returning home. 2005-06 – Played in all 29 games, including a start Jan. 16 at Illinois State in place of the injured Matt Webster...one of the most versatile players on the team...saw action at forward and center, generally backing up Matt Webster and Bradley Strickland in the frontcourt...finished sixth on the team in total points, fourth in steals, and fourth in rebounding...scored a season-high nine points and pulled down six rebounds Dec. 10 against Western Illinois...scored 37 points and grabbed 28 rebounds in a five-game stretch from Nov. 26 to Dec. 17...came off the bench to total eight points and seven rebounds in a 77-75 win at Indiana State Feb. 25...played 20 minutes or more six times JUNIOR COLLEGE – Averaged 10.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 2004-05 at Cowley County (Kan.) Community College; averaged 17.5 points and 8 rebounds in his final four games...shot 47.4 percent from the field and 69 percent at the FT line...helped lead Cowley County to 20-11 record...played for head coach Randy Smithson at Cowley, and for assistant coach Brian Jackson, a 1995 University of Evansville graduate. AT LANDER – Attended NCAA Division II Lander University in South Carolina as a freshman, and averaged 6.1 ppg and 3.8 rpg...scored a career-high 13 points against Winston-Salem State...shot 44 percent from the floor and 79 percent at the line. HIGH SCHOOL – Averaged 23 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists on his club team in Liepaja...attended Liepaja High School #1.
