Logan Baumann 2021-22 Headshot

Logan Baumann

Logan Baumann was elevated to Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach in June of 2021. Baumann served two years as an Assistant Basketball Coach at UE after spending the 2018-19 season as the Purple Aces Associate Athletic Director for Basketball Operations.

“It is a pleasure to offer Logan the title of Associate Head Coach as it more clearly reflects his role within our program. Logan is a selfless teammate who positively impacts all aspects of our program,” Lickliter said.  “In addition, due to the influence of two highly successful mentors in Rick Pitino and Trent Johnson, he is experienced beyond his years.  Our players and program are benefitted beyond measure with the knowledge he has acquired and shares through those relationships.”

Baumann's work was pivotal in the program enjoying a top five finish in the Missouri Valley Conference in the 2020-21 season.  The program had one of the top turnarounds in MVC history while improving its league win tally by seven games from 2020.  Shamar Givance earned 2nd Team All-MVC accolades while Jawaun Newton's improvement was equally impressive.  In his first season as an assistant, Baumann helped UE defeat top-ranked Kentucky in Rupp Arena.

Before joining the Aces in April of 2018, UE, Baumann served on staff at the University of Louisville for three seasons, most recently as the Senior Director of Video Operations.  He began his coaching career as the Assistant Video Coordinator with the Cardinals. Baumann has experience competing and coaching in the Big East, American Athletic Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference, and most currently, in the Missouri Valley.

During the Cardinals’ 2013 NCAA Championship season, Baumann transitioned from a student-manager to a walk on. He earned his bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude, in economics from UofL and most recently completed his master’s degree from Western Kentucky University in 2019.  Baumann is a native of Kentucky, most specifically Hartford. As a Senior he led Ohio County to a 29-3 record, a 10th district championship, and a No.9 ranking in the state of Kentucky. Baumann eclipsed over 1,000 points and was named as the 2012 Third Region Player of the Year while furthermore receiving valedictorian honors.

Logan and his wife, Paige, married in May 2017.
