2024 MVC Baseball All-Tournament Team

2024
  • Appeared in 64 games with 62 starts in the outfield during his first season with the Aces.
  • Fourth on the team in batting average (.292), home runs (9), RBIs (49), and runs scored (54).
  • Tied for first on the team in doubles with 21 extra-base hits in 64 games.
  • Added eight stolen bases on nine attempts for third on the team.
  • Made 134 putouts and five assists in the field with only five errors for a .965 fielding percentage.
  • Had a seven-game hitting streak in the month of May starting against Valparaiso and ending in the MVC Tournament.
  • Was a major contributor to UE's MVC Tournament Championship with five hits, four runs scored, and seven RBIs. 
  • Had a season-high four hits in two games against Purdue Fort Wayne (3/2/24) and Belmont (4/6/24).
  • Had a season-high four RBIs in three games including Purdue Fort Wayne (3/2/24), Butler (4/9/24), and Illinois State (MVC Tournament - 5/25/24). 
  • Spent his summer with the Willmar Stingers of the Northwoods League

  • Earned JBB Third Team All-America honors for the Northeast Hawks
  • Also a second-team All-Region 11 selection in the outfield
  • Earned NJCAA Third-Team All-Academic honors for carrying a GPA above 3.6 in the classroom as well
  • Led Northeast with a .365 batting average, 67 hits, 13 home runs, 61 RBI, eight triples, and an on-base percentage of .479
  • Ranked fifth nationally in triples (eight) and 20th overall in extra-base hits
  • Led the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference in triples, while ranking second in slugging percentage and extra-base hits, fifth in home runs, eighth in RBI, and tenth in batting average and on-base percentage
  • Hit home runs in three-straight games at Iowa Lakes Community College (4/18/23 – DH) and against Iowa Central CC (4/20/23)
  • Went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI at Neosho County Community College (2/18/23 – Game 2)
  • Drove in four RBI three different times throughout the year
  • Had 19 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI games
  • Did not go more than three games without a hit all year, and did not go more than two games without a hit from March 22-on
2022
  • Named JBB Second-Team All-American as a freshman
  • Earned 2022 ICCAC Division II Baseball All-Region Honorable Mention honors
  • A 2022 NJCAA Second-Team All-Academic honoree
  • Hit .345 with 15 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs, 56 RBI and 60 runs scored in 57 games played
  • Hit his first home run at the collegiate level in his third career game at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid (2/8/22)
  • Hit home runs in three-straight games against Marshalltown CC (4/2-3/22) and at Ellsworth CC (4/6/22)
  • Drove in a season-best five runs going 2-for-3 with a home run at Des Moines Area Community College (4/27/22)
  • Went a season-best 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI against Des Moines Area Community College (5/4/22)
  • Had 16 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI contests
  • Stole 22 bases in 27 attempts, which ranked second in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference
  • Did not go more than three games without a hit during his freshman season
PREP
  • An all-state baseball and football star at Natrona County High School
  • A two-time Wyoming All-State selection in baseball in American Legion, as Wyoming is one of only two states without a true high school baseball season
  • Posted a .389 average at the WWBA Nationals in Atlanta in 2020
  • Also hit .454 with three triples, three home runs and 12 RBI at the 2021 Premier World Series in Joplin, Missouri
  • Played for the Colorado Slammers in 2020 and hit .431 with a .588 slugging percentage
  • Led his team to a legion baseball state championship in 2019
  • A two-time Wyoming All-State selection in football as well
  • Led Natrona County to a Class 4A state championship in 2018
  • Accounted for more than 4,000 yards and 48 touchdowns
  • Was a finalist for the National Football Foundation Scholar award
  • Also played one year of basketball in high school
PERSONAL
  • Son of Teresa and Robert Taubert
  • Has an older sister, Lauren
  • His older sister, Lauren, was a four-time Track & Field All-American at Kansas State University in the heptathlon and pentathlon and was K-State’s nominee for “NCAA Woman of the Year”
  • His family owns and operates a western retail department store that is over 105 years old – Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters.  His great-grandfather started the store in 1919
  • Lists his favorite food as steak
  • Lists football as his second-best sport
  • Hopes to play professional baseball one day
  • His hidden talent is wake surfing
  • His hobbies include lifting, going to the lake, and spending time with family and friends
