2021-22:

• Made 22 starts while playing in a total of 21 games
• Averaged 12.7 points per game over the course of the season while pacing the team with 5.4 rebounds per game
• Ranked 12^th in the MVC in rebounds
• Scored a career-high 30 points against Rice where he was 12-for-25 from the field and 5-6 from the line
• Career-high 12 rebounds came at Eastern Illinois
• Picked up a double-double against Akron and EIU

2020-21:

• Enjoyed top season at UE, averaging 13.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game
• Was the #7 scorer in the Missouri Valley Conference while leading the Aces
• Set career mark with 26 points on 2/26/21 vs. Missouri State hitting 8 out of 16 attempts
• Reached double figures on 14 occasions while scoring 20 points in three games
• Totaled 19 points in wins against Eastern Illinois and Illinois State
• First 20-point UE game came in opener at Bradley, scoring 22 on 9-of-14 shooting
• Following his career game against the Bears (26 pts), added 20 in the second game while leading UE to a 72-63 win
• Did not reach double figures in any of his first 48 college games, but rebounded to do so in 19 out of 32 games from the end of his sophomore year to the end of junior season
• Shot 80.0% from the free throw line, 7^th in the MVC
• Averaging 32.3 minutes per game, he finished 7^th in the conference

2019-20: Played in 29 games of sophomore season while averaging 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 21.2 minutes per game…started 21 games on the season – first eight contests of the year and final 13…made the start at #1 Kentucky scoring three points in 16 minutes…notched eight tallies in win over Morgan State hitting both field goal tries while hauling in five rebounds…through his first 17 games, Newton averaged 3.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 33.9% from the field and 13.6% from outside…in 12 game of work with Coach Lickliter, Newton averaged 8.4 points and 3.3 rebounds and shot 55.6% overall while seeing his outside shooting rise to 48.0%...his minutes jumped from 17.4 to 26.6 per game…after scoring eight points versus Drake, Newton had his first double digit contest at Valparaiso, posting 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting…Newton did not reach double figures in his first 48 games at UE, but did so in five out of nine games…had a 10-point game against Southern Illinois while playing a career-high 39 minutes…had consecutive 11-point games in road tilts at Bradley and Drake…set career mark of 13 points at UNI, hit six of his 10 field goal attempts…shot 50% or higher in 10 consecutive games from 1/22 through 2/26…grabbed career-high eight rebounds in Arch Madness game against Valparaiso.

2018-19: Played in 30 games while making the start in home game against UNI as a freshman…played 18 minutes in debut at Illinois, scoring five points and grabbing three boards…tallied six points against Kentucky Wesleyan…top non-conference game saw him post eight points at Miami Ohio on a perfect 3-3 day from the floor and 2-2 performance from the line; also tied career mark with four rebounds…set his career scoring high versus Bradley, totaling nine points on 3-5 shooting; was 2-4 from outside and hit a free throw…scored eight points at Indiana State…finished season with 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game…was a 77.8% free throw shooter.

Prior to UE: Comes to UE from El Paso, Texas where he was a star player at Burges High School...as a senior in 2017-18, Newton averaged 28.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game on his way to earning Class 5A All-State accolades...added 3.1 assists and 2.2 steals per contest...led his school to 31 victories last season and was named the El Paso Times Boys' Player of the Year on two occasions.
