Biography

2010-11 –Team leader on and off the floor...finished #1 for the Aces and #8 in the MVC with 2.9 assists per game...UE's 7th leading scorer (5.1) as a senior... fourth on the team in minutes played...finished his career with 537 points, 282 assists and 257 rebounds...hit his first 3-pointer of season in March 15 CBI win over Hofstra to put Aces up by 5 late in game...totaled 11 points and hit two key free throws in Feb. 8 win over Northern Iowa...scored a season-high 13 points, tied career high with 7 rebounds, and made 6 assists Jan. 26 at Indiana State... scored the game-winner with 2.8 seconds to go in 81-79 win over Middle Tennessee Dec. 18... totaled 6 points, team-high 7 rebounds and 3 assists in Nov. 27 win at Butler...hit both free throws with 2.2 seconds remaining Nov. 17 for the winning points to break a 73-73 tie vs. UT-San Antonio...made a career-high 11 assists in Nov. 13 win over Oakland City.

2009-10 – Team leader on and off the court...ranked #9 in MVC with 3.1 assists per game, and #11 in assist-to-turnover ratio at +1.4; both figures were second best on the team behind Troy Taylor...sixth leading scorer for UE (5.2)...played a key role in UE’s Feb. 23 win over #22 Northern Iowa, with 11 points (including his only 3-pointer in the final 11 games) and five assists; his two free throws with :07 remaining clinched the win...also scored in double figures Jan. 23 at Bradley (10) and Feb. 13 at Southern Illinois (11)...missed 6 games due to knee surgery Dec. 15 but came back to start in each of the last 16 games...handed out eight assists in season opener against Oakland City, and seven assists three other times.

2008-09 – Seventh in scoring (4.2) and third in assists (1.9)...suffered torn knee ligament after the season, and underwent surgery May 7...started four games early in the season, then became the first guard off the bench in the remaining 27 games...scored a career-high 14 points twice, Dec. 2 against SIU-Edwardsville and Dec. 28 against Drake... scored 11 against Indiana State and 10 at Bradley...tied his career high with six assists against eventual NCAA champion North Carolina, and also had six assists in a five-point loss at Creighton.

2007-08 – One of the Aces’ most improved players...second on the team in assists (1.9); averaged nearly 3 assists per game over final third of season...averaged nearly 30 minutes of playing time per game over the last 10 games...averaged 7.4 points in the last 10 games, and reached double figures three times.

HIGH SCHOOL – Set Alton HS career scoring record with 1,499 points...second team IBCA all-state, third team AP all-state...helped lead Redbirds to 100-27 record and two regional titles, one sectional title under coach Lee Bennett...averaged 16.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals as a senior and shot 52 percent...set school record with 176 3-pointers... Belleville News-Democrat Player of the Year... chosen as one of top five players in metro St. Louis by St. Louis Post-Dispatch...first player signed by new UE coach Marty Simmons, in April of 2007...four-year letterman in basketball, three-year letterman in football.

PERSONAL – Kavon Lamar Lacey...born July 27, 1989 in Alton, Illinois...son of Victor and Olivia Lacey...has two older brothers and one younger brother...member of Upward Bound, Student Ambassador, Peer Leader and Good Friend Mentor organizations in high school...majoring in exercise science and pre-physical therapy.

WHY EVANSVILLE?...“Because it was a great place for me to further my education and make me a better person while getting a chance to play Division 1 basketball.”
