Biography

2007-08 – Led the Aces in rebounding (5.3) and steals (29) last season in his rookie year at the Division I level following two years at Tyler (Texas) Junior College...ranked seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference in offensive rebounds with 2.2 per game...excellent rebounder despite standing only 6-5...grabbed 10 rebounds three times–in the season opener against Samford, at Ball State, and at Southern Illinois...scored in double figures six times, and produced a double-double in his first Division I game when he totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds in Nov. 11 season opener against Samford...scored a career-high 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting against Ohio Valley Conference champion Austin Peay...reached double figures in MVC games against Wichita State (11) and Illinois State (10)...made three steals or more in four games...third on the team in minutes played.

JUNIOR COLLEGE – Second team all-region, all-conference, and the team's most valuable player at Tyler Junior College in 2006-07...averaged 14 points and eight rebounds, and shot 62 percent for a Tyler squad that head coach Mike Marquis led to the East Texas Junior College Playoffs in 2007...team finished 18-12...one of three Tyler players from the 2006-07 team who signed with Division I programs...produced eight double-double games in ‘06-07 for the Apaches, scoring a season-high 30 points twice and pulling down 17 rebounds in one game...averaged 10.6 rebounds as a freshman in 2005-06.

HIGH SCHOOL – Graduate of George Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was first team all-state as a senior...qualified academically to attend a four-year college out of high school, but elected to follow AAU teammate Tyrone Cole-Scott to Tyler Junior College.

PERSONAL – Natheniel David Garner... born June 22, 1987 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa... son of David and Paula Garner...has one younger sister, Mariah...sociology major.

WHY EVANSVILLE? “Coach Simmons is a winner and I want to win. I also was interested in what Evansville had to offer academically.”
