Auburn, Ill. native Aubrey Watson joined the Purple Aces softball staff in 2014 with head coach Mat Mundell. Her work with Coach Mundell went back to her playing days for the coach at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Watson pitched for Mundell from 2010 through 2012 at UIS.
Watson has been a pivotal part of a staff that was named the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. She also coached a pitching staff that cut its ERA in half while ranking third in the MVC with a 2.90 ERA. Watson helped Morgan Florey earn MVC Freshman of the Year honors.
Her top season came in 2011 when she finished third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in ERA while being named the league's Pitcher of the Week during the season.
