Jillian Mathis is in her first season as the 23-24 assistant coach for the University of Evansville.
She started her career at the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2019. She helped the Prairie Stars appear in the NCAA Conference tournament in the seasons of 21-23 and an appearance in the NCAA Regional tournament in 2023. Jillian received Second-Team All-Region and Second-Team All-GLVC selection in 2022. Jillian was Third Team All-GLVC selection in 2023.
She was named to the GLVC Academic All-Conference team in her last three seasons. In 22-23, she achieved the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. At the end of her collegiate career, she ended with a 3.6 GPA.
In 2022, Jillian entered the UIS record books. She left her mark as a Prairie Star in 2nd in single season batting average (.398), 2nd in single season sac flies (5), 4th in career batting average (.360), and 7th in career slugging (.521).
Jillian has an emphasis on the mental approach to softball that will help players improve their performance and mental focus. She wants her players to understand the importance of playing in the moment rather than focusing on the past or future.
Jillian is currently completing her Master’s degree at UE in Master of Science in Leadership. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at UIS.
