Biography
2009: Played in every game…ranks third in UE single-season digs records with 600 digs and fifth in the career list with 1,328 digs…averaged 5.04 digs per set to rank first on the team, fourth in the league and 30th in the NCAA… helped the team rank second in the MVC and 12th in the NCAA with 17.82 digs per game…had 27 games with double-digit digs, including 14-straight matches, and five games with 30 or more…named MVC Defensive Player of the Week after posting a career-high and school-record 38 digs in 3-2 win over Southern Illinois (11/20)…collected 34 digs and four assists in win over Bradley (10/24).
2008: The only player to play in all 32 matches and 117 games…led the team with 561 digs, the third most for a single season at UE…finished fifth in the MVC averaging 4.80 digs per set…posted 10 or more digs in every match expect two, including 13 matches with 20 or more…finished the season with a streak of 18 matches of 10 or more digs and had eight-straight matches with 20 or more digs during that span… named the MVC Defensive Player of the Week for averaging 6.57 digs per set against Bradley and Northern Iowa…had a career-best and season-high 28 digs at No. 11 Wichita State (11/8).
2007: Played in 23 matches and 79 games as a freshman...finished with 167 digs on the season...recorded a personal-best 24 digs against Illinois State (9/15)...posted six matches with double-digit digs...had five service aces on the season.
At Cathedral: Three-time letterwinner for Cathedral High School...Indiana First-Team All-North selection...first-team all-city selection...all-state honorable mention...helped Cathedral to two 4A state runner-up finishes in 2004 and 2005...led Cathedral to a 4A state championship title in 2006...set a school record with 500 digs in 2006...three-time letterwinner in basketball...first-team all-city selection in basketball...defensive MVP, team co-MVP and co-captain in basketball.
Personal: Daughter of Doug and Rie Sylvester...born November 30, 1988 in Carmel, Indiana...has two older sisters, Lauren and Kerry, and older brother, Greg...Kerry played volleyball at UE...majoring in sports science.
