University of Evansville forward Victor Gomez, the only senior on the Aces' basketball team, will be sidelined for approximately six to eight weeks after suffering a fracture to a metatarsal bone in his right foot. The injury took place when he dove for a loose ball during Tuesday's practice session. Gomez led the team in scoring (14) and rebounding (10) in last Saturday's exhibition game victory over Oakland City University. Gomez played sparingly in a total of 16 games last season, averaging 1.1 points and 0.9 rebounds.
Coach Marty Simmons' team begins the season Sunday with a 2:35 game at Roberts Stadium against Samford University.
