The University of Evansville women’s basketball team will be without the services of senior guard Tal Milchan (Rehovot, Israel) for the remainder of the 2007-08 season after Milchan suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in practice last week.
Milchan suffered the injury in drills near the end of practice last Tuesday. An MRI?late last week confirmed the diagnosis of an ACL?tear.
“Our hearts really go out to Tal,” said UE head coach Tricia Cullop. “You never want to see anyone go down with a season-ending knee injury, especially a senior. We know that Tal will have a rough road ahead on the rehab trail, but we will all be there to support her and help her through this. She has given a lot to the program in her two short years here, and we really appreciate everything she has done for us.”
Milchan has played in seven games so far this season and has averaged 1.4 points per game as a reserve guard. Milchan scored a season-high 10 points at nationally-ranked Michigan State in early November after being named as one of UE’s Most Improved Guards during the preseason.
Evansville (5-4) will return to action next on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. central time, as the Purple Aces will travel to Dayton, Ohio to battle the Wright State Raiders (2-8). Friday’s game can be heard live in the Tri-State area on the Aces’ Radio Network (91.5 F.M.-WUEV, 100.5 F.M.-WSJD, 103.9 F.M.-WNTC).
