EVANSVILLE, Ind.--The University of Louisville Cardinals took full advantage of their few opportunities Saturday night, and the result was a 2-1 men's soccer exhibition victory over the University of Evansville at UE's Black Beauty Field.

The Cards put just two shots on goal in the first half, but found the net on both. Gerardo Chavez opened the scoring at 30:49, taking Ryan McDonald's throw-in and finding a hole in Evansville's offense seven yards in front of the goal. Then at 40:27, Marco Terminesi scored on a breakaway, taking a pass from O.T. Yanez and racing behind UE's defense to beat Aces' goalkeeper Alec Dufty.

Evansville came back in the second half, scoring at 50:32 on Dan Gibson's header off of Kieran Purcell's free kick. But the Cardinals kept Evansville off the scoreboard the rest of the way to win the exhibition match.

"The only two chances Louisville had in the first half, we gave to them," said UE Head Coach Mike Jacobs. "The positives were that we got to see all of our players competing at critical moments, and we have tons of tape to watch before our next exhibition. We looked like a team that's only been training for two days, but we'll keep getting better."

Evansville finished with 11 shots, seven on goal, while Louisville took a total of nine shots and put five on goal.

The Aces play again next Sunday at home against Oakland City in their final exhibition before the Aug. 31 regular season opener at the Memphis Invitational.
