Aces' Men and Women Win At Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—The University of Evansville swim team finished their road trip with a duel meet win over Rose-Hulman Wednesday night.  The women’s score was 187-52, while the men won 149-94.

“This was a great effort by the team tonight,” said head coach Rickey Perkins. “We had a long night in Indianapolis, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the performance.”

Nicole Uhrin and Christina Schmidgall paced the women with two wins each. Uhrin had wins in the 200 free (2:03.54 and the 500 free (5:30.07), while Schmidgall finished first in the 100 breast (1:11.97) and 200 IM (2:15.97). Lisa Murphy won the 1000 free with a time of 11:05.86. Anna Luecke recorded a win in the 50 free (26.21). Ady Sekely added a win in the 100 butterfly (1:02.09), and Kaitlyn Sluka finished the evening with a first place finish in the 100 back (1:02.43). Jennifer Childers took the diving competition with scores of 224.80 in the one meter and 196.40 in the three meter event.

James Nash led the men with wins in the 200 free (1:47.45) and the 100 free (47.88). The men’s other first place finishes came by Chris Nash in the 1000 free (10:27.32), Wil Fernandez in the 100 back (56.87) and Derek Bifulco in the 100 breast (1:03.49). On the diving board, Josh Fletcher took the one meter diving event with a score of 246.70, while teammate Geoff Keller won the three meter event with a score of 243.20.

The Aces will return to action January 19 when they travel to Western Kentucky for a 1 p.m. meet.
