TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Wednesday night's game was the 147th in the 86-year history of Evansville-Indiana State basketball.  It was not one that Evansville cares to remember.

The Sycamores made a 24-1 run against the Purple Aces in the first half, turning a 6-3 Evansville lead into a 27-7 Indiana State lead.  The Sycamores went up by 30 at halftime, 44-14, and went on to beat the Aces 72-42.  Leading scorer Jason Holsinger was held scoreless by the Sycamores, and Shy Ely (13) and Pieter van Tongeren (10) were the only two Evansville players to reach double figures.  Gabe Moore led the Sycamores with 14 points, and was one of four to score 10 points or more.  Indiana State hit 12 of 29 three-point field goals, and limited the Aces to no three-pointers.

Indiana State is now 10-8 overall and 5-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference.  Evansville is 5-13 and 0-8.

The Aces are back in action Saturday at home against Missouri State at 7:30 CST.  That's the final game of a doubleheader that begins with the big Hoops For The Cure game featuring the UE women's team against Southern Illinois at 5:00.
