INIDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--The University of Evansville swim team returned to action Tuesday night in Indianapolis for the House of Champions Relays. The team finished second behind Ball State with IUPUI and Western Illinois also competing.
“The team did a great job,” said head coach Rickey Perkins. “The team was tired from the training trip, but they responded well. We are going to be in good shape to build up for a great conference finish.”
The relay team of Kristyn Benter, Nicole Uhrin, Anna Luecke and Christian Schmidgall finished third in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:50.10. Annie Shackelford, Luecke, Schmidgall and Benter finished second in the 500 free relay (4:52.99). Diane Threlkeld, Uhrin, Benter and Schmidgall recorded a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:55.07). Ady Sekely, Kaitlyn Sluka, Threlkheld and Uhrin rounded out the women’s events with a fifth place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:26.58.
For the men, James Nash, Chris Nash, Phil Lubbehusen and Zach Brown had a third place finish in the 400 free relay (3:27.15). Derek Bifulco, James Nash, Lubbehusen and Brown also finished third in the 200 medley relay (1:40.94). Zach Kanet, James Nash, Lubbehusen and Brown recorded a third place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:53.81). On the diving board, Josh Fletcher placed second with a score of 270.40 in the mixed three meter diving.
In the mixed events, James Nash, Wil Fernandez, Sluka and Threlkeld finished second in the 200 back relay. Jeff Yoder, Chris Nash and Schmidgall finished fourth in the 1500 free relay with a time of 15:36.94.
The Aces will travel to Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute Wednesday for a duel meet at 6 p.m.
