University of Evansville forward Mike Luttrull earned good news on Wednesday when he was chosen as the Missouri Valley Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, and even better news Thursday, when he was chosen as a finalist for the Division I Men's Soccer Academic All-America Team.

Luttrull is an accounting major with a 3.82 GPA. He was the only sophomore chosen for the men's Academic All-District 5 team, which included seven seniors and three juniors. Luttrull missed four games recently because of a hamstring injury, then came back and scored Evansville's first goal Saturday in a 3-1 victory over Eastern Illinois. For his efforts, he was chosen as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Luttrull leads the Aces in scoring with nine goals and four assists for 22 points.

Luttrull and women's team members Kayla Lambert and Julie Winkler were chosen today for their respective Academic All-District 5 teams, making them finalists for the Academic All-America Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and presented by ESPN The Magazine.

Winkler and Lambert helped lead the women's team to an 11-4-2 regular season record, and at least a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship, UE's first since 2000. Evansville will be the number one or two seed in the State Farm MVC Tournament next week at Omaha, Neb. Winkler is a physical therapy major with a 3.95 grade point average. The midfielder has two goals and three assists for seven points this season. Lambert is a management major with a 3.56 GPA. She is the nation's 15th leading scorer with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points. Lambert recently broke the MVC career scoring record with her 127th point.
