Aces Pick Up Two WIns At Tiger Invitational Saturday

AUBURN, Ala.--The University of Evansville scored six runs in the third inning en route to a 10-2 victory over McNeese State Saturday afternoon in the Aces’ third game of the Tiger Invitational. In the nightcap, the Aces were able to take advantage of defensive miscues to defeat Gardner-Webb 9-1.
 
Vs. McNeese
Jacki Bradley drove in the first run of the game in the second inning on a base hit that scored Krista Price from third.
 
The Aces were able to score six runs on three hits and an error in the third inning. Price drove in three on an RBI double to left field, scoring Brittany Herald, Kristen Shirk, and Amanda Ockomon. Price was able to advance to third on the play with an error by the shortstop. Cassey Kemna then hit a sacrifice fly to score Price from third. Lissa Fehlman came through with a two-run double to score Jennifer Stahlhut and Bradley later in the inning.
 
The Aces picked up one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to take the win. Bradley led all hitters at the plate, going 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored. Kemna went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Price also had two hits in four at bats with three RBI and three runs scored. Fehlman picked up two RBI with her double. Herald and Shirk also had base hits for the Aces.
 
Ashley Hobbs picked up the win for the Aces. The junior struck out five and only allowed two runs in six innings of work.
 
Vs. Gardner-Webb
Jennifer McKee picked up her third straight win for the Aces. McKee went the distance, surrendering one run on six hits. Behind McKee, the Aces turned three double plays in the game.
 
Freshman Cindy Boomhower did not make it out of the first inning for the Bulldogs. The newcomer surrendered three runs on six hits and an error in the first inning.
 
The Aces had twelve hits in the game. Bradley had a three-hit game for the Aces with a double and four RBI in four trips to the plate. Kemna and Shirk had two hits each. Laura Rather picked up her second home run of the season. Herald, Price, Stahlhut, and Fehlman all had base hits for the Aces. Ockomon was the only Aces’ starter without a hit in the game.
 
With the threat of rain in the forecast for tomorrow, the Aces' final game of the Tiger Invitational has been moved up to 8 a.m. against Marshall.
