The University of Evansville swim and dive team will be headed to Nashville, Tenn. Thursday for the men’s Sun Belt Conference Championships. The three-day event is hosted by Western Kentucky and will be held at Nashville Centennial Sportsplex.

“This is going to be a great meet,” said head coach Rickey Perkins. “Our guys are motivated and focused, and we should compete very well.”

The four seniors leading this year’s team are Zach Brown, Geoff Keller, Phil Lubbehusen, and Jeff Yoder. Brown is a two-time Missouri Valley Swimmer of the week and finished fourth in the 100 free at the 2005 MVC Championships. Keller finished fifth in the three-meter diving at the MVC Championships in 2006 and currently holds the team’s best one-meter diving score of 247.75. Lubbehusen finished sixth in the 100 breast at the 2006 MVC Championships, and Yoder had two top ten finishes at the MVC Championships in 2006.

Junior James Nash should also be a strong competitor as he has the team’s best times in the 100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM. He was also voted as the SBC Swimmer of the Week in January. Sophomore Josh Fletcher was voted the SBC Diver of the Week in January and currently leads the Aces with a three-meter score of 268.80. Freshman Chris Nash should fare well in the freestyle. Nash has team best times in the 500 and 1000 free.

The SBC Championships are set to begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday with warm-ups and preliminaries.
