JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The University of Evansville women’s golf team won the 12-team North/South Collegiate Tuesday at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course marking the first time in UE history a women’s golf team has won an event.
The Aces as a team combined for 314 in the first round and 306 in the second round for a total of 620. Bethune-Cookman’s Kimberly Wong won the event carding a 73 in both rounds. Katie Shoener shot a second round low 72 in her second round to finish second for the Aces with a 152. Crissy Higgins broke the top ten of the 68 women with a seventh place finish carding rounds of 77 and 78 for a two-round total of 155.
The Aces will return to action March 24 at the Butler Invitational. The two-day event will be held at Prestwick Golf Course in Avon, Ind. Beginning at 8 a.m.
