University of Evansville senior women’s basketball player Rebekah Parker (Silver Lake, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley H.S.) has moved into a first-place tie in the fan voting for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, which is presented annually to the NCAA’s Student-Athlete of the Year.
Parker and Kentucky senior Sarah Elliott are currently tied atop the fan voting for the award, having each received 24 percent of the popular vote. Fan voting will run from now until March 21, and will be combined with voting from coaches, media, and sponsors to help decide the 2008 Lowe’s Senior Class Award recipient.
Parker is a two-time all-MVC selection, and is currently a finalist for the MVC’s Player of the Year award after helping Evansville to the top spot in the league standings with a 19-8 overall record and school-best 13-3 conference mark. Parker currently leads the Purple Aces in scoring at 14.4 points per game, while also ranking among the MVC’s leaders in rebounding, assists, steals, assist-to-turnover ratio, and both free throw and field goal percentage. Off of the court, Parker carries a 3.69 grade point average at UE and is a two-time academic all-district selection. She has also been involved in numerous community services projects over her four-year career at Evansville.
