Former University of Evansville standout Troy Perkins is one of five goalkeepers invited by U.S. National Team coach Bob Bradley to compete in friendlies against England, Spain and Argentina, beginning with a game against England May 28 at Wembley Stadium.
Bradley has chosen a total of 33 players to compete in the three matches. They will be the USA's final tests for the start of World Cup 2010 qualifying with a two-leg series against Barbados. Other goalkeepers chosen by Bradley were Dominic Cervi, Brad Guzan, Tim Howard and Chris Seitz.
Perkins led a young UE team in 2003 to a 9-7-3 record, allowing only 21 goals in 19 matches. He went directly from the University of Evansville to the MLS D.C. United, and was the 2006 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. He recently signed a five-year contract with VÃ¥lerenga I.F. in Tippeligaen, Norway.
