SANTA BARBARA, Cal. -- UC-Santa Barbara scored twice in the final 17 minutes and the 14th ranked Gauchos came away with a 4-2 men's soccer victory Thursday night over number 21 ranked University of Evansville.

Now 5-1-0 going into Saturday's match at Cal Poly, the Aces came into Thursday's play as one of only six teams in Division I with a perfect record.  UC-Santa Barbara is 4-2-0, and was the 2006 NCAA Division I national champion.

Aces' sophomore Mike Luttrull opened the scoring at 19:21 with his sixth goal of the season, a blast from the 18 into the upper right corner of the net.  Tom Irvin got the assist.  The Gauchos came back with the next two scores, at 35:32 from Chris Pontius and 40:52 from Nick Perera to close out the first half with a 2-1 lead.

Evansville senior defender Kipp Erskine tied the match at the 62:42 mark, heading in a shot following Kieran Purcell's corner kick and a pass from Justin Sass.  But UCSB returned the favor nine minutes later when Danny Barrera served up a corner kick that Martin Hedevag headed in for the winning goal. Pontius added his second goal of the night in the 87th minute for UCSB's fourth tally.

The Gauchos put nine shots on goal compared to six for the Aces.
