The first Brine/Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week award of 2008 goes to University of Evansville senior central defender Kipp Erskine, who scored a goal and helped the Aces shut out two opponents last weekend.

Erskine and his teammates blanked Detroit 2-0 and Central Arkansas 3-0 at the University of Kentucky Invitational. Erskine scored the first goal in Sunday's win over Central Arkansas when he headed in Tom Irvin's throw-in. An honorable mention all-MVC defender last season, Erskine is one of three captains on this year's team along with Alec Dufty and Reggie Edu.

The 2-0-0 start is the best since 2002 for the Aces, who host undefeated Butler on Sunday at 3:00 at Black Beauty Field.
