EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The three-point shooting numbers told it all Tuesday night: Creighton 10-for-18 from behind the arc, and Evansville 1-for-12.  The result was a 79-57 Missouri Valley Conference victory for the Bluejays in front of a Roberts Stadium crowd of 6,626 and an ESPNU national television audience.

Creighton is now 15-5 and 5-3 in the Valley while Evansville fell to 12-6 and 4-4.  The Purple Aces play their next two on the road, Sunday at Wichita State and next Wednesday at Drake.

Creighton broke open a close game late in the first half with a 19-5 run that gave the Bluejays a 46-29 halftime lead.  Any hope Evansville had of getting back into the game was snuffed out early in the second half when Creighton outscored the Aces 17-4 in the first four minutes to take a 63-33 lead.

"Give them credit; they were more aggressive," said Evansville coach Marty Simmons.  "If we're not scoring, we'd better be stopping, but Creighton scored on eight of their last nine possessions (in the first half).  We won't beat anybody if we play defense like that.  I thought we got some good looks, but we couldn't finish.  That's been our Achilles heel all season."

Creighton spread out its 10-for-18 three-point shooting among six players, including Justin Carter with 14 points and Casey Harriman with 11 off the bench.  Both hit a pair of threes.  Center Kenny Lawson took care of the inside play for Creighton and scored a team-high 16 for the Bluejays, who shot 57 percent for the game.

Shy Ely scored 26 of Evansville's 57 points on 10-for-20 shooting, but the rest of the Aces connected on just 11 of 33 shots.
