The University of Evansville swimming and diving team hits the halfway mark of the season on Sunday, as the Aces travel to Indianapolis to compete in the IUPUI Invite against Ball State, Butler, Xavier and host IUPUI.
“I’m really excited for this weekend,” said Evansville head coach
Rickey Perkins. “We had another great week of training. Now we just need to show up and compete, and if we do that, we should get victories against all the opponents.
“I think that we match-up well against Xavier. IUPUI is always very strong, and Butler has people who can do some things. We just need to make sure that we show up and compete.”
Last weekend the Aces split with Eastern Illinois with the women taking a convincing 162-100 win and the men falling 153-109.
The women’s team posted 10 first place finishes against the Panthers. Sophomore Hannah Quast, sophomore Alex Howard and freshman Michea Reinitz each took two top times in the meet while freshman Jill Enge, sophomore Alex Spata and junior Christina Schmidgall also finished first.
The men’s team tabbed seven first-place finishes of its own against EIU. Freshman Alex Seward and sophomore Jake Harrington both had two top finishes while sophomore Brandon Long, junior Chris Nash and freshman Kyle Tiemann also took first place in their respective events.
After Sunday, UE will not return to competition until November 21-22 when the team goes to St. Louis to participate in the Washington University Invite.
