Haarsma Chosen As Vectren Student-Athlete Of The Week

Sophomore James Haarsma from Kenosha, Wisconsin is the Vectren Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Purple Aces to a pair of victories last week.

The 6'7" forward produced double-doubles in the University of Evansville's two most recent games, with a career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds in Thursday's 75-58 win over Georgia Southern, followed by 18 points and 14 rebounds in Saturday's 84-63 win over Tennessee-Martin. He connected on 13 of 20 shots and 18 of 22 free throws.

Haarsma already has five double-doubles in his short career, including four this season. His performance last week moved him up to number one in the Missouri Valley Conference in rebounding, at 8.7 per game, and number four in scoring at 14.9 points per game.

Winners of two in a row and four of its last five, the 6-3 University of Evansville basketball team takes on 7-5 Austin Peay State University Tuesday at Clarksville, Tenn. Tuesday’s game will be broadcast by the Aces Basketball / Old National Bank Radio Network–-WUEV 91.5 FM./wuev.evansville.edu and Superhits 105.3 FM--with Brandon Gaudin and Scott Shreffler calling the action.
