Salukis Finish One Step Ahead Of The Aces

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Evansville swimming and diving team finished off the regular season in a dual meet with Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Christina Schmidgall and freshman Hannah Quast paced the Aces with two second place finishes each. Schmidgall finished second in the 1650 free and 500 free, while Quast took second in the 50 free and 100 free. Second place was a common theme throughout the meet. The women had six other second place finishes including Alexandra Howard in the 200 free, Murphy Barry in the 400 IM, Ady Sekely in the 100 fly, Alexandra Spata in the 100 back, Valerie Jones in the 100 breast, and Ashley Altmeyer for her one meter dives.
 
Senior James Nash and Zach Kanet led the men with two top place finishes each for the Aces. Nash picked up second place finishes in the 200 free and 100 back. Kanet finished second in the 50 free and second in the 200 fly. The men had five other second place finishes with Bryan Hamann in the 1650 free, Michael Cowl in the 400 IM, Chris Nash in the 100 free, Jacob Harrington in the 500 free, and Colin Grya in the 100 breast.
 
The Aces will conclude their season with the Sun Belt and Missouri Valley Conference Championships in late February.
