Future Ace Reaches Heck Of A Milestone

2/10/2009 3:07:59 PM

Future Purple Ace and University of Evansville women’s basketball signee Samantha Heck (Auxvasse, Mo./North Callaway) reached a rare career milestone this past weekend, as Heck recorded her 2,000th career point in a game for the North Callaway High School Thunderbirds at the Southern Boone Classic in Ashland, Missouri.

Heck scored a game-high 26 points in the Thunderbirds’ game against Southern Boone to move her career scoring total to 2,021 points.  Heck reached the 2,000-point plateau with a jumper at the 5:22 mark of the second quarter.

In her four-year career at North Callaway, Heck has averaged 20.8 points per game, as she has recorded 2,021 points in 97 games.  She has also tallied 1,249 rebounds and 436 assists as a 6’2 post player for the Thunderbirds.

Heck was one of four players to sign with head coach Misty Murphy’s Purple Aces this past fall, joining Ohio sharpshooter Chelsea Hawkins (Bucyrus, Ohio/Bucyrus), Ohio wing player Taylor Ware (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) and Texas point guard Kaylan Martin (Pflugerville, Texas/Pflugerville).  To read more about Heck’s milestone, please click here to see the game recap of Friday’s game courtesy of the Fulton (Mo.)
