Aces Lose Two At Bulldog Classic

STARKVILLE, Miss.—The University of Evansville softball team dropped two games at the Mississippi State Bulldog Classic on Saturday. The Aces dropped the first game to Rutgers, 3-2, and lost to host Mississippi State, , in the afternoon game.

Game 1 vs. Rutgers
Two late runs by the Rutgers offense doomed the Aces as the Scarlet Knights took a 3-2 win in the second game of the day.

The Aces struck first, putting up a run in the first inning. Krista Price led off the game with a double to center field. Kristen Shirk laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Price to third and Jennifer Stahlhut drove in Price with a single to center.

The Aces took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly from Jamie Lindauer to score Lissa Fehlman.

Jennifer McKee was able to get two quick outs in the seventh inning with a fly out and strike out, but the Scarlet Knights put together four consecutive singles to score two runs for the go ahead win.

The Aces scattered four hits in the game with doubles by Price and Fehlman and base hits by Stahlhut and Kylie Wagner.

McKee was tagged with the loss, going six and two-thirds innings with three earned runs on nine hits and five strikeouts.

Game 2 vs. Mississippi State
The Aces were shut out, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon against host Mississippi State. Mississippi State put up two runs after a 47-minute rain delay in the fifth to secure the win.

The Aces were only able to manage three hits in the game. Price, Shirk, and Fehlman were credited with base hits for the team. Price and Fehlman also reached base on a hit by pitch.

Wagner took the loss in the circle, giving up four earned runs in two innings. Annie Vincelett pitched the remainder of the game and gave up three runs on five hits with a strikeout.

The Aces (2-5) will play in the consolation game on Sunday. Game time has yet to be determined.
