EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The Creighton Bluejays returned to junior pitcher Tara Oltman in the third game of the series as the Bluejays swept the University of Evansville softball team with a 6-2 win on Sunday.
Creighton got on the board first with a run in the first inning on a RBI single by Renae Sinkler to score Bailey Dawson.
The Aces answered in the bottom half of the inning by manufacturing a two-out run. After consecutive singles by Jen Stahlhut and Krista Price, Lissa Fehlman was able to reach on an error by the shortstop to allow Stahlhut to score.
The Bluejays would put up runs in the second and third on an RBI double by Lauren Larson and a solo home run by Sinkler.
The Aces pulled to within one with a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Price to score Ockomon from third.
Creighton had a three-run sixth inning to pull away in the win. Michelle Koch and Michelle Graner had RBI hits to plate two of the three runs.
The Aces scattered seven hits in the game Price and Stahlhut were both 2-for-4 at the plate while Ockomon, Amy Gaertner, and Kelci Alsip accounted for the other three hits.
Oltman got the win for the Bluejays, scattering seven hits while striking out five Aces’ hitters.
Jennifer McKee was tagged with the loss for the Aces, giving up four earned runs on eight hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Annie Vincelett pitched the seventh inning and retired the Bluejays in order.
The Aces (4-12) will conclude their home stand with a doubleheader with Tennessee-Martin on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Cooper Stadium.
