Batesville High School basketball standout Colt Ryan will be arriving at the University of Evansville in June, but before he puts on a Purple Aces' jersey he'll be wearing the red, white and blue of the Indiana All-Stars.
Ryan has been chosen for the prestigious Indiana All-Star Team that will play the Kentucky All-Stars on Saturday, June 13 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and again on June 14 at Bellarmine College in Louisville.
Ryan finished fourth in the state in scoring with a 25.6 average, and was fifth in the state with 61 three-point field goals. A third team AP All-State selection, he led Batesville to a 19-3 record. Ryan broke the BHS scoring record of 1,700 points, set by Michael Menser in 1997. Menser was also an Indiana All-Star, and went on to lead Indiana State University to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2000 and 2001.
Most recently, Ryan scored a game-high 28 points and added seven assists and two steals in the South's victory in the North-South All-Star Classic held at Batesville earlier this month. Ryan's teammates on the South squad included Mr. Basketball Jordan Hulls (18 points), and Southern Illinois recruits Kendal Brown (15) and Jordan Myers (7).
Ryan becomes the third Indiana All-Star on the University of Evansville roster. Sophomore Clint Hopf and Bryan Bouchie, who has three years of eligibility remaining after transferring from Valparaiso University a year ago, made the team in 2007.
